SPC Flooring Questions & Answers
General guidance for Zolana rigid-core waterproof flooring. Exact features and approved applications vary by collection.
SPC stands for Stone Polymer Composite. It is a rigid-core flooring construction designed to provide dimensional stability, everyday durability, and the appearance of natural wood. Zolana SPC flooring combines a decorative design layer, a protective wear layer, a rigid core, and an attached acoustic pad. Always refer to the applicable collection specification sheet for the exact construction.
Zolana SPC flooring is developed with a quality-first approach that balances design, performance, and reliable specifications. Collection features may include a 9 mm overall construction, a 28 mil wear layer, EIR surface texture, pressed bevel edges, an attached IXPE pad, and a precision locking system. Features vary by collection; the product carton and official specification sheet are the controlling references.
Zolana SPC planks are designed to resist topical household spills and moisture under normal use. Waterproof flooring does not waterproof the room, subfloor, walls, or building structure. Flooding, prolonged standing water, moisture entering beneath the floor, plumbing leaks, and excessive subfloor moisture are not the same as ordinary topical spills and may not be covered by warranty.
SPC flooring may be suitable for many interior residential and light-commercial areas, including living rooms, bedrooms,
kitchens, hallways, and certain above-grade, on-grade, or below-grade spaces. It is not intended for exterior use, saunas, steam rooms, areas with floor drains, or locations exposed to uncontrolled temperature or moisture. Confirm
the approved applications in the installation instructions and warranty for the selected collection.
It may be installed in many kitchens and residential bathrooms when the site conditions, subfloor, perimeter details, fixtures, and installation method comply with Zolana instructions. Spills should be wiped up promptly. The floor must not be used as a waterproofing membrane, and it should not be installed beneath permanent cabinets or fixed islands unless the product instructions expressly permit it.
In many cases, SPC may be installed over a properly prepared, clean, dry, flat, structurally sound, and securely bonded hard-surface floor. Existing carpet, cushion-backed flooring, floating floors, and unsuitable or damaged materials must be removed. Subfloor flatness and moisture requirements still apply.
Requirements depend on the subfloor, building level, local conditions, and collection instructions. Concrete installations commonly require an approved vapor retarder even when the plank has an attached pad. An attached pad is not automatically a vapor barrier. Follow the current Zolana installation instructions and applicable building requirements.
Do not add underlayment unless it is specifically approved for the selected Zolana collection. An overly soft or thick underlayment can place excess stress on the locking system, affect performance, and void warranty coverage.
Acclimation and jobsite-conditioning requirements vary by collection and site conditions. The building must be enclosed, climate controlled, and within the temperature and humidity ranges stated in the installation instructions before, during, and after installation. Follow the current instructions rather than assuming acclimation is unnecessary.
Certain systems may be acceptable when they meet Zolana’s written requirements. The heat must be embedded beneath the subfloor, surface temperatures must remain within the specified limit, and temperature changes must be gradual. Electric heating mats placed directly beneath the flooring may not be permitted. Obtain written confirmation for he selected collection before installation.
Only when indoor temperature and sunlight exposure remain within the limits stated for the product. Strong direct sunlight can create localized heat and expansion. Appropriate window treatments, climate control, expansion space, and transition requirements may be necessary.
No flooring is scratchproof, dentproof, or damage-proof. Zolana’s protective wear surface is designed for everyday use, ut sharp objects, grit, unprotected furniture, rolling loads, high heels, pet claws, and dragged appliances can damage the floor. Use entry mats, felt protectors, and hard-surface chair mats, and lift rather than slide heavy items.
Yes, SPC flooring is a practical option for homes with pets when maintained correctly. Keep nails trimmed, remove tracked-in grit, use non-staining mats, and clean accidents promptly with an approved pH-neutral cleaner.
Sweep, dust mop, or vacuum using a hard-floor setting without a beater bar. For routine cleaning, use a lightly damp microfiber mop and a pH-neutral cleaner approved for resilient flooring. Wipe spills promptly and never flood the floor.
No. Steam, excessive heat, wax, oil soap, polish, abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, and solvent-based cleaners can damage the surface or joints and may affect warranty coverage. Do not use cleaning products that leave a dulling or slippery residue.
Minor marks may be improved with an approved maintenance method. A damaged plank can often be replaced by a qualified flooring professional, depending on its location and the installation. Keep extra cartons from the original production run because future color and visual matching cannot be guaranteed.
Warranty coverage depends on the collection, application, purchaser, and installation date. Some collections may carry limited residential and limited commercial coverage. The official warranty document, including its exclusions, required maintenance, claim procedure, and proof-of-purchase requireme
Laminate Flooring Questions & Answers
General guidance for Zolana laminate flooring. Final website claims must match the official specification sheet and warranty for each released collection.
Laminate is a multi-layer hard-surface flooring product with a high-density core, a decorative wood-look layer, and a durable protective surface. Modern laminate can deliver realistic visuals and strong resistance to everyday wear. Exact construction and performance ratings vary by Zolana collection.
Laminate typically uses a wood-fiber-based core and is known for a firm, realistic wood feel and strong abrasion resistance. SPC uses a mineral-polymer rigid core and generally provides greater dimensional resistance to topical moisture. The best choice depends on the room, moisture exposure, desired feel, and collection specifications.
Only describe a Zolana laminate collection as waterproof when its official specification sheet and warranty expressly state that claim. Waterproof or water-resistant performance is subject to time limits, installation details, perimeter sealing, maintenance, and exclusions. It does not waterproof the building or protect against flooding, leaks, or moisture beneath the floor.
Laminate is generally intended for dry, climate-controlled interior spaces. Approved rooms and grade levels depend on the collection. Do not install in exterior spaces, saunas, steam rooms, areas with floor drains, or locations with uncontrolled moisture unless the written product instructions specifically approve the application.
Only if the selected collection is approved for that space and every water-protection detail in the installation instructions is followed. This may include perimeter sealing, approved moldings, prompt spill cleanup, and restrictions around toilets, tubs, dishwashers, cabinets, or fixed fixtures.
The subfloor must be clean, dry, flat, structurally sound, and stable. Approved substrates may include concrete, plywood, OSB, and certain fully bonded hard surfaces. Carpet, floating floors, unstable materials, and
moisture-damaged substrates are not acceptable. Follow the flatness and moisture limits for the collection.
Many laminate floors require an approved underlayment for sound, support, and joint performance. Concrete and other moisture-prone substrates may also require a separate vapor retarder. If the product has an attached pad, do not add another layer unless Zolana specifically approves it.
Follow the collection’s installation instructions. Jobsite conditions must be stable and within the specified temperature and relative-humidity range. Cartons should remain packaged and be stored flat in the installation area for the required conditioning period, if any.
Some laminate collections may be compatible with approved embedded radiant-heating systems. Surface-temperature limits, gradual temperature changes, moisture testing, and system type are critical. Confirm compatibility in writing before installation.
Laminate can be a durable choice for pet households. Keep nails trimmed, remove grit regularly, place mats at entrances, and clean spills or accidents immediately. Pet damage, scratching, and moisture left on the floor may fall outside warranty coverage.
Durability depends on the wear rating, core construction, installation quality, maintenance, and use conditions. Review the collection’s AC rating or other performance information and select a product approved for the expected residential or commercial traffic.
Use a soft broom, dust mop, or hard-surface vacuum without a beater bar. Clean with a lightly damp microfiber mop and a pH-neutral product approved for laminate. Never saturate the floor, allow liquid to remain at the joints, or use excessive cleaning solution.
No, unless the collection’s written care instructions expressly say otherwise. Steam and excessive water can affect the surface, edges, joints, or core. Use minimal moisture and wipe spills promptly.
Use non-staining felt pads, entry mats, hard-surface chair mats, and protective boards when moving appliances. Lift furniture instead of dragging it. Maintain indoor climate, limit intense direct sunlight with window coverings, and avoid rubber- or latex-backed mats unless approved.
Often yes. A professional may be able to disassemble the floor from the nearest wall or use an approved plank-replacement method. Retain attic stock from the original installation because future batches may have natural visual or shade differences.
The warranty published for the specific collection controls. Coverage is limited and may differ for residential and commercial installations. Proper product selection, installation, care, proof of purchase, and compliance with claim procedures are

Consider your specific needs and preferences when deciding between SPC, WPC, LVP, loose lay, and laminate. All options share common performance and visual traits. WPC and SPC flooring excels in moisture resistance and durability. LVP offers style, durability, and affordability. Loose lay provides an efficient installation using heavy, friction-backed planks that stay in place with minimal adhesive. Laminate provides a cost-effective choice with diverse design possibilities. Choose your preferred look and feel, take home samples, and decide based on your room’s purpose, lifestyle, and desired aesthetic.
